Your Eminence, Cardinal O'Boyle, Esteemed members of the Hierarchy, Right Reverend and Reverend Monsignori, Very Reverend and Reverend Fathers, esteemed guests and friends!

This is indeed a singular privilege for me to visit this great center of learning here in the Capitol of this great nation. The Catholic University of America, an institution in which the whole of the Catholic Hierarchy takes special interest, is famous the world over for its endeavors to keep burning the light of Faith in the modern era. I am truly honored that Divine Providence has permitted me to see the vast accomplishments of the Catholic Church on this illustrious campus of higher learning. I accept this degree as a token ot respect to the Ukrainian people who are favored by this University which includes Ukrainians on its faculty and in its student body. I am overwhelmed with the friendly Christian spirit that hovers over the magnificent dome atop the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. I am pleased to hear the ancient doctrines of the Church made alive to modern man in Caldwell hall. It indeed gives me great pleasure to know that here in this free land of Washington, that this great institution is enabled to teach not only the disciplines of philosophy and theology, but over the years has branched out into the many other fields. All these things remind us that "Christ must be all in all" This University is a living witness to the Church's universal witness to restore all things in Christ. Indeed, we are happy to see that in some measure this is being accomplished here in the United States of America under the capable direction of the esteemed members of the faculty at Catholic University and the diligent concern of the Archbishops and bishops in these United States of America.

I express my most sincere and profound gratitude to His Eminence, Cardinal O'Boyle, the Rector, Father Whalen, the Vice Rector, Monsignor McAllister and the members of this University family for this singular honor of bestowing upon my humble person this doctor's degree. May these, my few and humble words to you, be the sign of my deepest gratitude, May God grant the founders of this Catholic University the peace of heaven and may He abundantly lavish His blessings upon those who presently labor here. God bless you!
